A lawsuit has once again been filed against Samsung, though this time its not from Apple. The lawsuit comes from Microsoft for Samsung’s failure to pay its royalties to the Redmond based company on time. The agreement in question here is the same one via which Microsoft gets all other Android OEMs to pay a percentage of their device sales to it. An initial report from re/code suggested that Samsung had stopped paying its royalties completely to the Windows Phone maker from late last year. However, Microsoft’s PR agency has since then reached out to the folks over at Android Police and confirmed that the lawsuit is not for the failure to pay money, but only for delayed payments along with the non-payment of the accrued interest rates. Samsung has not responded officially yet but stated that it is looking into the matter and “determine appropriate measures in response.” Nearly all of Microsoft’s division have been struggling off late — the market share of Windows 8.1 has plateaued while Windows Phone is still struggling to gain market share. However, the company still manages to stay in the green thanks to all its money it receives from Android OEMs via royalties.
